Dye Color Theory – Many Colors from a Few Dyes

Lecture portion: We’ll talk about modern color theory (CMYK and RGB) and why red, yellow and blue don’t always make the best primaries for dyes. Then we’ll talk about ways to approach getting the colors you want with a very limited number of dyes.

Activity portion: Class will be divided up into groups. Each group will dye a gradient of colors and make enough samples for the entire class. You’ll walk out with a rainbow of dye samples and the recipes.

Length of Class:  2 hrs.
